SCOUT eh! addresses Scouts Canada about Democracy

November 30, 2004

Scouter Ted Claxton, Treasurer of SCOUT eh!, addressed the Scouts Canada Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 27, 2004. Nearly 50 SCOUT eh! members from British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland were in attendance.

After the speech, our Chair, Mike Reid, spoke to the Chief Commissioner. At that time we were invited to submit more detailed proposals to the Board of Governors before their January meeting. The proof of this invitation will be in what comes out of it. This overture is just a first step.

Also that weekend, SCOUT eh! members held their first eh!GM (general meeting) and conference at Durham College, near the Scouts Canada AGM site at Camp Samac, Oshawa, Ontario. SCOUT eh! members discussed various issues facing Scouts Canada, formally installed the elected national officers, and enjoyed a slide presentation about Kandersteg International Scout Centre.

The work of SCOUT eh! continues. Members are encouraged to continue spreading the word and working for democracy in Scouts Canada.
